城门
圣经中的器物
城门是穿过防护墙进入城内的入口。在大型建筑群的入口处，如圣殿或富人住宅，也会有大门。在不同时期，大门的结构也不同，在门道两侧各有两个、四个或六个并排的守卫室。有时，大门会建有一个或多个90度的转弯通道，通常是向左转（以暴露进攻者的侧面，因该处无盾牌遮护）。大门的入口由一道很厚的门关住，通常是木制的。门通常有两扇，分别悬挂在大门两侧的合页上。把两扇门推到一起阖上，然后用一根或几根粗木闩从里面固定住（参门闩、闩 (gate bar, bolt)）。
