- This noun denotes a demonstrated proof or evidence, used of God's public display of Christ as a propitiation to demonstrate His righteousness — "whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness" (Romans 3:25), and again, "for the demonstration, that is, of His righteousness at the present time" (Romans 3:26), of the proof of love shown before the churches, "show them the proof of your love and of our reason for boasting about you" (2 Corinthians 8:24), and of the sign given to the Philippians as evidence of both destruction and salvation, "which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you" (Philippians 1:28).
