投槍、標槍、短槍

投槍是一種短矛或大箭（參箭 (arrow)），比槍輕一些，適合投擲。持槍的人可以站立著，或騎在馬上，或在戰車上，向敵人投擲。投槍的桿用木頭或蘆葦製成。和長槍一樣，投槍也帶有一個金屬尖頭，固定方式也和固定槍頭相同（參槍頭 (spearhead)）。投槍槍桿的中間位置通常纏著一根繩子，並套在拋擲者的手指上。投槍擲出後，繩子鬆開使投槍旋轉，從而飛行更加穩定、準確，而且飛得更遠。
