Arad Conquered
1When the Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming by the way of Atharim, he fought against Israel and took some of them captive. 2So Israel made a vow to the LORD and said, “If You will indeed hand over this people to me, then I will utterly destroy their cities.” 3The LORD heard the voice of Israel and turned over the Canaanites; then they utterly destroyed them and their cities. And the place was named Hormah.
1住南地的迦南人亞拉得王，聽說以色列人從亞他林路來，就和以色列人爭戰，擄了他們幾個人。2以色列人向耶和華發願說：「你若將這民交付我手，我就把他們的城邑盡行毀滅。」3耶和華應允了以色列人，把迦南人交付他們，他們就把迦南人和迦南人的城邑盡行毀滅。那地方的名便叫何珥瑪（就是毀滅的意思）。
The Bronze Serpent
4Then they set out from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the people became impatient because of the journey. 5So the people spoke against God and Moses: “Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and we are disgusted with this miserable food.” 6Then the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died. 7So the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you; intercede with the LORD, that He will remove the serpents from us.” And Moses interceded for the people. 8Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and put it on a flag pole; and it shall come about, that everyone who is bitten, and looks at it, will live.” 9So Moses made a bronze serpent and put it on the flag pole; and it came about, that if a serpent bit someone, and he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.
4他們從何珥山起行，往紅海那條路走，要繞過以東地。百姓因這路難行，心中甚是煩躁，5就怨讟神和摩西說：「你們為甚麼把我們從埃及領出來、使我們死在曠野呢？這裏沒有糧，沒有水，我們的心厭惡這淡薄的食物。」6於是耶和華使火蛇進入百姓中間，蛇就咬他們。以色列人中死了許多。7百姓到摩西那裏，說：「我們怨讟耶和華和你，有罪了。求你禱告耶和華，叫這些蛇離開我們。」於是摩西為百姓禱告。8耶和華對摩西說：「你製造一條火蛇，掛在杆子上；凡被咬的，一望這蛇，就必得活。」9摩西便製造一條銅蛇，掛在杆子上；凡被蛇咬的，一望這銅蛇就活了。
10Now the sons of Israel moved out and camped in Oboth. 11Then they journeyed from Oboth and camped at Iye-abarim, in the wilderness which is opposite Moab, to the east. 12From there they set out and camped in Wadi Zered. 13From there they journeyed and camped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites. 14For that reason it is said in the Book of the Wars of the LORD,
“Waheb in Suphah,
And the wadis of the Arnon, 15And the slope of the wadis
That extends to the site of Ar,
And leans to the border of Moab.”

That extends to the site of Ar,
And leans to the border of Moab.”

16From there they continued to Beer, that is the well where the LORD said to Moses, “Assemble the people, that I may give them water.”
16以色列人從那裏起行，到了比珥（就是井的意思）。從前耶和華吩咐摩西說：「招聚百姓，我好給他們水喝」，說的就是這井。
17Then Israel sang this song:
“Spring up, O well! Sing to it! 18“The well, which the leaders dug,
Which the nobles of the people hollowed out,
With the scepter and with their staffs.”
And from the wilderness they continued to Mattanah, 19and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth, 20and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the land of Moab, at the top of Pisgah, which overlooks the desert.
“Spring up, O well! Sing to it! 18“The well, which the leaders dug,
Which the nobles of the people hollowed out,
With the scepter and with their staffs.”
And from the wilderness they continued to Mattanah, 19and from Mattanah to Nahaliel, and from Nahaliel to Bamoth, 20and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the land of Moab, at the top of Pisgah, which overlooks the desert.

Two Victories
21Then Israel sent messengers to Sihon, king of the Amorites, saying, 22“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn off into field or vineyard; we will not drink water from wells. We will go by the king’s road until we have passed through your border.” 23But Sihon would not permit Israel to pass through his border. Instead, Sihon gathered all his people and went out against Israel in the wilderness, and came to Jahaz and fought against Israel. 24Then Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and took possession of his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, as far as the sons of Ammon; for the border of the sons of Ammon was Jazer. 25Israel took all these cities, and Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon and in all her villages. 26For Heshbon was the city of Sihon, king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab and had taken all his land out of his hand, as far as the Arnon. 27For that reason those who use proverbs say,
“Come to Heshbon! Let it be built!
So let the city of Sihon be established. 28“For a fire spread from Heshbon,
A flame from the town of Sihon;
It devoured Ar of Moab,
The dominant heights of the Arnon. 29“Woe to you, Moab!
You are destroyed, people of Chemosh!
He has given his sons as fugitives,
And his daughters into captivity,
To an Amorite king, Sihon. 30“But we have shot them down with arrows,
Heshbon is destroyed as far as Dibon,
Then we have laid waste as far as Nophah,
Which reaches to Medeba.”
“Come to Heshbon! Let it be built!
So let the city of Sihon be established. 28“For a fire spread from Heshbon,
A flame from the town of Sihon;
It devoured Ar of Moab,
The dominant heights of the Arnon. 29“Woe to you, Moab!
You are destroyed, people of Chemosh!
He has given his sons as fugitives,
And his daughters into captivity,
To an Amorite king, Sihon. 30“But we have shot them down with arrows,

31So Israel lived in the land of the Amorites. 32Now Moses sent men to spy out Jazer, and they captured its villages and dispossessed the Amorites who were there.
31這樣，以色列人就住在亞摩利人之地。32摩西打發人去窺探雅謝，以色列人就佔了雅謝的鎮市，趕出那裏的亞摩利人。
33Then they turned and went up by the way of Bashan, and Og the king of Bashan went out against them with all his people, for battle at Edrei. 34But the LORD said to Moses, “Do not fear him, for I have handed him over to you, and all his people and his land; and you shall do to him as you did to Sihon, king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon.” 35So they killed him and his sons and all his people, until there was no survivor left; and they took possession of his land.
33以色列人轉回，向巴珊去。巴珊王噩和他的眾民都出來，在以得來與他們交戰。34耶和華對摩西說：「不要怕他！因我已將他和他的眾民，並他的地，都交在你手中；你要待他像從前待住希實本的亞摩利王西宏一般。」35於是他們殺了他和他的眾子，並他的眾民，沒有留下一個，就得了他的地。
