Death of Miriam
1Then the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to the wilderness of Zin in the first month; and the people stayed at Kadesh. Now Miriam died there and was buried there.
1正月間，以色列全會眾到了尋的曠野，就住在加低斯。米利暗死在那裏，就葬在那裏。
The Waters of Meribah
2There was no water for the congregation, and they assembled against Moses and Aaron. 3Then the people argued with Moses and spoke, saying, “If only we had perished when our brothers perished before the LORD! 4“Why then have you brought the LORD’S assembly into this wilderness, for us and our livestock to die here? 5“Why did you make us come up from Egypt, to bring us into this wretched place? It is not a place of grain or figs or vines or pomegranates, nor is there water to drink!” 6Then Moses and Aaron came in from the presence of the assembly to the entrance of the tent of meeting and fell on their faces. And the glory of the LORD appeared to them; 7then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, 8“Take the staff; and you and your brother Aaron assemble the congregation and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it shall yield its water. So you shall bring water for them out of the rock, and have the congregation and their livestock drink.”
2會眾沒有水喝，就聚集攻擊摩西、亞倫。3百姓向摩西爭鬧說：「我們的弟兄曾死在耶和華面前，我們恨不得與他們同死。4你們為何把耶和華的會眾領到這曠野、使我們和牲畜都死在這裏呢？5你們為何逼著我們出埃及、領我們到這壞地方呢？這地方不好撒種，也沒有無花果樹、葡萄樹、石榴樹，又沒有水喝。」6摩西、亞倫離開會眾，到會幕門口，俯伏在地；耶和華的榮光向他們顯現。7耶和華曉諭摩西說：8「你拿著杖去，和你的哥哥亞倫招聚會眾，在他們眼前吩咐磐石發出水來，水就從磐石流出，給會眾和他們的牲畜喝。」
9So Moses took the staff from before the LORD, just as He had commanded him; 10and Moses and Aaron summoned the assembly in front of the rock. And he said to them, “Listen now, you rebels; shall we bring water for you out of this rock?” 11Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with his staff; and water came out abundantly, and the congregation and their livestock drank. 12But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Since you did not trust in Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, for that reason you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.” 13Those were called the waters of Meribah, because the sons of Israel argued with the LORD, and He proved Himself holy among them.
9於是摩西照耶和華所吩咐的，從耶和華面前取了杖去。10摩西、亞倫就招聚會眾到磐石前。摩西說：「你們這些背叛的人聽我說：我為你們使水從這磐石中流出來嗎？」11摩西舉手，用杖擊打磐石兩下，就有許多水流出來，會眾和他們的牲畜都喝了。12耶和華對摩西、亞倫說：「因為你們不信我，不在以色列人眼前尊我為聖，所以你們必不得領這會眾進我所賜給他們的地去。」13這水名叫米利巴水（米利巴就是爭鬧的意思），是因以色列人向耶和華爭鬧，耶和華就在他們面前顯為聖。
14From Kadesh Moses then sent messengers to the king of Edom to say, “This is what your brother Israel has said: ‘You know all the hardship that has overtaken us; 15that our fathers went down to Egypt, and we stayed in Egypt a long time, and the Egyptians treated us and our fathers badly. 16‘But when we cried out to the LORD, He heard our voice and sent an angel, and brought us out from Egypt; now behold, we are at Kadesh, a town on the edge of your territory. 17‘Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or vineyard; we will not even drink water from a well. We will go along the king’s road, not turning to the right or left, until we pass through your territory.’”
14摩西從加低斯差遣使者去見以東王，說：「你的弟兄以色列人這樣說：『我們所遭遇的一切艱難，15就是我們的列祖下到埃及，我們在埃及久住；埃及人惡待我們的列祖和我們，16我們哀求耶和華的時候，他聽了我們的聲音，差遣使者把我們從埃及領出來。這事你都知道。如今，我們在你邊界上的城加低斯。17求你容我們從你的地經過。我們不走田間和葡萄園，也不喝井裏的水，只走大道原文是王道，不偏左右，直到過了你的境界。』」
18Edom, however, said to him, “You shall not pass through us, or I will come out with the sword against you.” 19Again, the sons of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the road, and if I and my livestock do drink any of your water, then I will pay its price. Let me only pass through on my feet, nothing more.” 20But he said, “You shall not pass through.” And Edom came out against him with a heavy force and a strong hand. 21So Edom refused to allow Israel to pass through his territory; then Israel turned away from him.
18以東王說：「你不可從我的地經過，免得我帶刀出去攻擊你。」19以色列人說：「我們要走大道上去；我們和牲畜若喝你的水，必給你價值。不求別的，只求你容我們步行過去。」20以東王說：「你們不可經過！」就率領許多人出來，要用強硬的手攻擊以色列人。21這樣，以東王不肯容以色列人從他的境界過去。於是他們轉去，離開他。
Death of Aaron
22Now when they set out from Kadesh, the sons of Israel, the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor. 23Then the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron at Mount Hor by the border of the land of Edom, saying, 24“Aaron will be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter the land which I have given to the sons of Israel, because you rebelled against My command at the waters of Meribah. 25“Take Aaron and his son Eleazar, and bring them up to Mount Hor. 26Then strip Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar. So Aaron will be gathered to his people and will die there.” 27So Moses did just as the LORD had commanded, and they went up to Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation. 28And after Moses stripped Aaron of his garments and put them on his son Eleazar, Aaron died there on the mountain top. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain. 29When all the congregation saw that Aaron had died, the whole house of Israel wept for Aaron for thirty days.
22以色列全會眾從加低斯起行，到了何珥山。23耶和華在附近以東邊界的何珥山上曉諭摩西、亞倫說：24「亞倫要歸到他列祖原文是本民那裏。他必不得入我所賜給以色列人的地；因為在米利巴水，你們違背了我的命。25你帶亞倫和他的兒子以利亞撒上何珥山，26把亞倫的聖衣脫下來，給他的兒子以利亞撒穿上；亞倫必死在那裏，歸他列祖。」27摩西就照耶和華所吩咐的行。三人當著會眾的眼前上了何珥山。28摩西把亞倫的聖衣脫下來，給他的兒子以利亞撒穿上，亞倫就死在山頂那裏。於是摩西和以利亞撒下了山。29全會眾，就是以色列全家，見亞倫已經死了，便都為亞倫哀哭了三十天。
