1Bersorak-sorailah, hai si mandul yang tidak pernah melahirkan ! Bergembiralah dengan sorak-sorai dan memekiklah, hai engkau yang tidak pernah menderita sakit bersalin ! Sebab yang ditinggalkan suaminya akan mempunyai lebih banyak anak dari pada yang bersuami, firman TUHAN. 2Lapangkanlah tempat kemahmu, dan bentangkanlah tenda tempat kediamanmu, janganlah menghematnya; panjangkanlah tali-tali kemahmu dan pancangkanlah kokoh-kokoh patok-patokmu ! 3Sebab engkau akan mengembang ke kanan dan ke kiri, keturunanmu akan memperoleh tempat bangsa-bangsa, dan akan mendiami kota-kota yang sunyi.
1“Shout for joy, infertile one, you who have not given birth to any child;
Break forth into joyful shouting and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor;
For the sons of the desolate one will be more numerous
Than the sons of the married woman,” says the LORD. 2“Enlarge the place of your tent;
Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, do not spare them;
Lengthen your ropes
And strengthen your pegs. 3“For you will spread out to the right and to the left.
And your descendants will possess nations
And will resettle the desolate cities.
Break forth into joyful shouting and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor;
For the sons of the desolate one will be more numerous
Than the sons of the married woman,” says the LORD. 2“Enlarge the place of your tent;

Lengthen your ropes

4Janganlah takut, sebab engkau tidak akan mendapat malu, dan janganlah merasa malu, sebab engkau tidak akan tersipu-sipu. Sebab engkau akan melupakan malu keremajaanmu, dan tidak akan mengingat lagi aib kejandaanmu. 5Sebab yang menjadi suamimu ialah Dia yang menjadikan engkau, TUHAN semesta alam nama-Nya; yang menjadi Penebusmu ialah Yang Mahakudus, Allah Israel, Ia disebut Allah seluruh bumi. 6Sebab seperti isteri yang ditinggalkan dan yang bersusah hati TUHAN memanggil engkau kembali; masakan isteri dari masa muda akan tetap ditolak ? firman Allahmu. 7Hanya sesaat lamanya Aku meninggalkan engkau, tetapi karena kasih sayang yang besar Aku mengambil engkau kembali. 8Dalam murka yang meluap Aku telah menyembunyikan wajah-Ku terhadap engkau sesaat lamanya, tetapi dalam kasih setia abadi Aku telah mengasihani engkau, firman TUHAN, Penebusmu.
4“Fear not, for you will not be put to shame;
And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced;
But you will forget the shame of your youth,
And no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. 5“For your husband is your Maker,
Whose name is the LORD of armies;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,
Who is called the God of all the earth. 6“For the LORD has called you,
Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,
Even like a wife of one’s youth when she is rejected,”
Says your God. 7“For a brief moment I abandoned you,
But with great compassion I will gather you. 8“In an outburst of anger
I hid My face from you for a moment,
But with everlasting favor I will have compassion on you,”
Says the LORD your Redeemer.
And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced;
But you will forget the shame of your youth,
And no longer remember the disgrace of your widowhood. 5“For your husband is your Maker,
Whose name is the LORD of armies;
And your Redeemer is the Holy One of Israel,
Who is called the God of all the earth. 6“For the LORD has called you,
Like a wife forsaken and grieved in spirit,

9Keadaan ini bagi-Ku seperti pada zaman Nuh: seperti Aku telah bersumpah kepadanya bahwa air bah tidak akan meliputi bumi lagi, demikianlah Aku telah bersumpah bahwa Aku tidak akan murka terhadap engkau dan tidak akan menghardik engkau lagi. 10Sebab biarpun gunung-gunung beranjak dan bukit-bukit bergoyang, tetapi kasih setia-Ku tidak akan beranjak dari padamu dan perjanjian damai-Ku tidak akan bergoyang, firman TUHAN, yang mengasihani engkau.
9“For this is like the days of Noah to Me,
When I swore that the waters of Noah
Would not flood the earth again;
So I have sworn that I will not be angry with you
Nor rebuke you. 10“For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,
But My favor will not be removed from you,
Nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,”
Says the LORD who has compassion on you.

11Hai yang tertindas, yang dilanggar angin badai, yang tidak dihiburkan ! Sesungguhnya, Aku akan meletakkan alasmu dari batu hitam dan dasar-dasarmu dari batu nilam. 12Aku akan membuat kemuncak-kemuncak tembokmu dari batu delima, pintu-pintu gerbangmu dari batu manikam merah dan segenap tembok perbatasanmu dari batu permata. 13Semua anakmu akan menjadi murid TUHAN, dan besarlah kesejahteraan mereka; 14engkau akan ditegakkan di atas kebenaran. Engkau akan jauh dari pemerasan, sebab engkau tidak usah lagi takut, dan engkau akan jauh dari kekejutan, sebab ia tidak akan mendekat kepadamu. 15Apabila orang menyerbu, itu bukanlah dari pada-Ku; siapapun yang menyerbu engkau, ia akan rebah melawan engkau. 16Sesungguhnya, Akulah yang menciptakan tukang besi yang menghembus api dan menghasilkan senjata menurut kecakapannya, tetapi Akulah juga yang menciptakan pemusnah untuk merusakkannya. 17Setiap senjata yang ditempa terhadap engkau tidak akan berhasil, dan setiap orang yang melontarkan tuduhan melawan engkau dalam pengadilan, akan engkau buktikan salah. Inilah yang menjadi bagian hamba-hamba TUHAN dan kebenaran yang mereka terima dari pada-Ku, demikianlah firman TUHAN.
11“Afflicted one, storm-tossed, and not comforted,
Behold, I will set your stones in antimony,
And I will lay your foundations with sapphires. 12“Moreover, I will make your battlements of rubies,
And your gates of crystal,
And your entire wall of precious stones. 13“All your sons will be taught by the LORD;
And the well-being of your sons will be great. 14“In righteousness you will be established;
You will be far from oppression, for you will not fear;
And from terror, for it will not come near you. 15“If anyone fiercely attacks you, it will not be from Me.
Whoever attacks you will fall because of you. 16“Behold, I Myself have created the smith who blows on the fire of coals
And produces a weapon for its work;
And I have created the destroyer to inflict ruin. 17“No weapon that is formed against you will succeed;
And you will condemn every tongue that accuses you in judgment.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD.
