יָעֵל yâʻêl · H3277 · ibex, wild goat, mountain goat
יָעֵל denotes the mountain goat or ibex, a wild caprid found in mountainous terrain in the biblical lands. Both אַקּוֹ and יָעֵל refer to wild goats native to the region, and they are near-synonymous in that they can substitute for one another when the precise species distinction is not critical. The terms appear to designate closely related or overlapping species of wild caprids.
