a. hither, to this place (Homer, Iliad 18, 399. Od 1 182; 17, 545; cf. Buttmann, 71 (62f) (cf. Winers Grammar, § 54, 7; but its use in Homer of place is now generally denied; see Ebeling, Lex. Homer, under the word, p. 484b; Liddell and Scott, under the word, II.)): Mt 8:29; Mt 14:18 (Tr marginal reading brackets ὧδε); Mt 17:17; ; Mk 11:3; Lk 9:41; Lk 14:21; Lk 19:27; Jn 6:25; Jn 20:27; Acts 9:21; Rev 4:1; Rev 11:12 (the Sept. for הֲלֹם, Ex 3:5; Judg 18:3; Ruth 2:14); ἕως ὧδε (even unto this place), Lk 23:5.
b. here, in this place: Mt 12:6, Mt 12:41; Mt 14:17; Mk 9:1, Mk 9:5; Mk 16:6; Lk 9:33; Lk 22:38; Lk 24:6 (WH reject the clause); Jn 6:9; Jn 11:21, Jn 11:32, and often (the Sept. for פֹּה); τά ὧδε, the things that are done here, Col 4:9; ὧδε, in this city, Acts 9:14; in this world, Heb 13:14; opposed to ἐκεῖ (here, i. e. according to the Levitical law still in force; there, i. e. in the passage in Genesis concerning Melchizedek), Heb 7:8; ὧδε with some addition, Mt 14:8; Mk 6:3; Mk 8:4; Lk 4:23; ὧδε ὁ Χριστός, ἤ ὧδε, here is Christ, or there (so A. V., but R. Metaphorically, in this thing, Rev 13:10, Rev 13:18; Rev 14:12; Rev 17:9 (the phrase ὧδε ἐστιν in at least two of these passages (viz., Rev 13:18; Rev 14:12) seems to be equivalent to 'here there is opportunity for', 'need of' etc. (so in Epictetus diss. 3, 22, 105)); in this state of things, under these circumstances, 1 Cor 4:2 L (who, however, connects it with 1 Cor 4:1) T Tr WH; cf.
