아기를 싸는 강보
성경의 기물
아기를 싸는 강보는 너비가 손바닥만 하고 길이가 몇 미터(야드)나 되는 일종의 붕대였다. 이 천 띠로 아이를 어깨에서 발까지 감쌌다. 전문 용어로 “강보로 싸기”라고 하는 이 관습은, 태어난 직후에 아이의 팔다리를 몸 옆에 단단히 붙여 묶으면 곧게 자란다는 믿음에서 행해졌다.
