성소

성소는 예루살렘 성전이나 그 이전 성막의 내부였다. 이 내부에는 바깥방과 안방, 두 개의 방이 있었다. “성소”는 이 두 방 가운데 어느 쪽이든 가리킬 수 있다. 대개 “성소”는 휘장 바깥의 더 큰 방을 가리키고, 그 서쪽 끝에 있는 더 작은 방은 “지성소” 또는 “가장 거룩한 곳”이라고 부른다(지성소, 가장 거룩한 곳 참조). 성막에서 성소의 크기는 10×20규빗(5×10미터, 16.5×33피트)이었고, 성전에서는 20×40규빗(10×20미터, 33×66피트)이었다.
