요새, 견고한 성, 성, 성채, 보루
성경의 기물
요새는 큰 방어 시설로, 흔히 성읍 방어의 일부였다. 중동에서는 이런 방어 시설을 돌로 지었다. 요새는 특별히 튼튼한 건물 하나일 수도 있었고, 자체의 튼튼한 성벽으로 둘러싸인 여러 건물의 단지일 수도 있었다.
