移動防彈盾

操作撞城槌的士兵暴露在防守方從城牆上面實施的攻擊之下。為了保護他們，進攻方會在他們的頭上佈置一塊大型防護盾（稱為移動防彈盾）。有些時候，移動防彈盾是撞城槌結構整體的一個組成部分；還有一些時候，其他士兵各自手持盾牌，在撞城士兵的頭上重疊佈成一道移動防彈盾（參大盾 (large shield)）。
