墨
聖經中的器物
墨是一種用於書寫或做標記的深色液體。在中東乾燥的氣候條件下，很難長時間儲存液態物質，所以墨有時是用黑木炭做的。方法是：把黑木炭與膠質或油混合，然後晾乾成為墨塊。文士在書寫的時候，先把筆尖在水裡蘸一下，然後在墨塊上摩擦。水會溶解少量的炭，形成墨汁，並附著在筆尖上。
