못, 큰 못
성경의 기물
못은 한쪽 끝을 뾰족하게 만든 가는 쇳조각(대개 철)이었다. 오늘날의 못과 거의 같은 용도로 쓰여, 나뭇조각끼리 붙이거나 바닥에 붙였다.
십자가 처형에 쓰던 큰 못은 꽤 굵고 뾰족한 쇳조각이었다. 길이는 대략 20센티미터(8인치)였고 굵기는 사람 손가락만 했다. 1968년의 고고학 발굴에서 십자가에 못 박힌 사람의 유골이 나왔다. 쇠못이 발목뼈를 옆에서 꿰뚫은 채 아직 박혀 있었다.
