Mourning a Lost Tribe
1以色列人在米斯巴曾起誓说：「我们都不将女儿给便雅悯人为妻。」2以色列人来到伯特利，坐在神面前直到晚上，放声痛哭，3说：「耶和华—以色列的神啊，为何以色列中有这样缺了一支派的事呢？」4次日清早，百姓起来，在那里筑了一座坛，献燔祭和平安祭。
1Now the men of Israel had sworn in Mizpah, saying, “None of us shall give his daughter to Benjamin in marriage.” 2So the people came to Bethel and sat there before God until evening, and raised their voices and wept profusely. 3And they said, “Why, LORD, God of Israel, has this happened in Israel, that one tribe is missing today from Israel?” 4And it came about the next day that the people got up early and built an altar there, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings.
5以色列人彼此问说：「以色列各支派中，谁没有同会众上到耶和华面前来呢？」先是以色列人起过大誓说，凡不上米斯巴到耶和华面前来的，必将他治死。6以色列人为他们的弟兄便雅悯后悔，说：「如今以色列中绝了一个支派了。7我们既在耶和华面前起誓说，必不将我们的女儿给便雅悯人为妻，现在我们当怎样办理、使他们剩下的人有妻呢？」
5Then the sons of Israel said, “Who is there among all the tribes of Israel who did not go up to the LORD in the assembly?” For they had taken a solemn oath concerning anyone who did not go up to the LORD at Mizpah, saying, “He shall certainly be put to death.” 6And the sons of Israel were sorry for their brother Benjamin, and said, “Today one tribe is cut off from Israel! 7“What are we to do for wives for those who are left, since we have sworn by the LORD not to give them any of our daughters as wives?”
Provision for Their Survival
8又彼此问说：「以色列支派中谁没有上米斯巴到耶和华面前来呢？」他们就查出基列·雅比没有一人进营到会众那里；9因为百姓被数的时候，没有一个基列·雅比人在那里。10会众就打发一万二千大勇士，吩咐他们说：「你们去用刀将基列·雅比人连妇女带孩子都击杀了。11所当行的就是这样：要将一切男子和已嫁的女子尽行杀戮。」12他们在基列·雅比人中，遇见了四百个未嫁的处女，就带到迦南地的示罗营里。
8And they said, “What one is there of the tribes of Israel that did not go up to the LORD at Mizpah?” And behold, no one had come to the camp from Jabesh-gilead to the assembly. 9For when the people were counted, behold, not one of the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead was there. 10And the congregation sent twelve thousand of the valiant warriors there, and commanded them, saying, “Go and strike the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead with the edge of the sword, along with the women and the children. 11“And this is the thing that you shall do: you shall utterly destroy every male, and every woman who has slept with a male.” 12And they found among the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead four hundred young virgins who had not known a man by sleeping with him; and they brought them to the camp at Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan.
13全会众打发人到临门磐的便雅悯人那里，向他们说和睦的话。14当时便雅悯人回来了，以色列人就把所存活基列·雅比的女子给他们为妻，还是不够。15百姓为便雅悯人后悔，因为耶和华使以色列人缺了一个支派原文是使以色列中有了破口。
13Then the whole congregation sent word and spoke to the sons of Benjamin who were at the rock of Rimmon, and proclaimed peace to them. 14And the tribe of Benjamin returned at that time, and they gave them the women whom they had allowed to live from the women of Jabesh-gilead; but they were not enough for them. 15And the people were sorry for Benjamin, because the LORD had created a gap in the tribes of Israel.
16会中的长老说：「便雅悯中的女子既然除灭了，我们当怎样办理、使那余剩的人有妻呢？」17又说：「便雅悯逃脱的人当有地业，免得以色列中涂抹了一个支派。18只是我们不能将自己的女儿给他们为妻；因为以色列人曾起誓说，有将女儿给便雅悯人为妻的，必受咒诅。」
16Then the elders of the congregation said, “What are we to do for wives for those who are left, since the women have been eliminated from Benjamin?” 17And they said, “There must be an inheritance for the survivors of Benjamin, so that a tribe will not be wiped out from Israel. 18“But we cannot give them wives from our daughters.” For the sons of Israel had sworn, saying, “Cursed is he who gives a wife to Benjamin!”
19他们又说：「在利波拿以南，伯特利以北，在示剑大路以东的示罗，年年有耶和华的节期」；20就吩咐便雅悯人说：「你们去，在葡萄园中埋伏。21若看见示罗的女子出来跳舞，就从葡萄园出来，在示罗的女子中各抢一个为妻，回便雅悯地去。22他们的父亲或是弟兄若来与我们争竞，我们就说：『求你们看我们的情面，施恩给这些人，因我们在争战的时候没有给他们留下女子为妻。这也不是你们将女子给他们的；若是你们给的，就算有罪。』」23于是便雅悯人照样而行，按着他们的数目从跳舞的女子中抢去为妻，就回自己的地业去，又重修城邑居住。24当时以色列人离开那里，各归本支派、本宗族、本地业去了。
19So they said, “Behold, there is a feast of the LORD from year to year in Shiloh, which is on the north side of Bethel, on the east side of the road that goes up from Bethel to Shechem, and on the south side of Lebonah.” 20And they commanded the sons of Benjamin, saying, “Go and lie in wait in the vineyards, 21and watch; and behold, if the daughters of Shiloh come out to take part in the dances, then you shall come out of the vineyards, and each of you shall seize his wife from the daughters of Shiloh, and go to the land of Benjamin. 22“And when their fathers or their brothers come to complain to us, we shall say to them, ‘Give them to us voluntarily, because we did not take for each man of Benjamin a wife in battle, nor did you give them to them, otherwise you would now be guilty.’” 23The sons of Benjamin did so, and took wives according to their number from those who danced, whom they seized. And they went and returned to their inheritance, and rebuilt the cities and lived in them. 24And the sons of Israel departed from there at that time, every man to his tribe and family, and each one departed from there to his inheritance.
25那时，以色列中没有王，各人任意而行。
25In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
