The New Birth
1Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; 2this man came to Jesus at night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” 3Jesus responded and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
1有一個法利賽人，名叫尼哥底母，是猶太人的官。2這人夜裏來見耶穌，說，拉比，我們知道你是由神那裏來作師傅的；因為你所行的神蹟，若沒有神同在，無人能行。3耶穌回答說，我實實在在的告訴你，人若不重生，就不能見神的國。
4Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a person be born when he is old? He cannot enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born, can he?” 5Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6“That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. 7“Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but you do not know where it is coming from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”
4尼哥底母說，人已經老了，如何能重生呢；豈能再進母腹生出來麼。5耶穌說，我實實在在的告訴你，人若不是從水和聖靈生的，就不能進神的國。6從肉身生的，就是肉身；從靈生的，就是靈。7我說，你們必須重生，你不要以為希奇。8風隨著意思吹，你聽見風的響聲，卻不曉得從那裏來，往那裏去；凡從聖靈生的，也是如此。
9Nicodemus responded and said to Him, “How can these things be?” 10Jesus answered and said to him, “You are the teacher of Israel, and yet you do not understand these things? 11“Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you people do not accept our testimony. 12“If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13“No one has ascended into heaven, except He who descended from heaven: the Son of Man. 14“And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15so that everyone who believes will have eternal life in Him.
9尼哥底母問他說，怎能有這事呢。10耶穌回答說，你是以色列人的先生，還不明白這事麼。11我實實在在的告訴你，我們所說的，是我們知道的，我們所見證的，是我們見過的；你們卻不領受我們的見證。12我對你們說地上的事，你們尚且不信，若說天上的事，如何能信呢。13除了從天降下仍舊在天的人子，沒有人升過天。14摩西在曠野怎樣舉蛇，人子也必照樣被舉起來；15叫一切信他的都得永生。或作叫一切信的人在他裏面得永生
16“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. 17“For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but so that the world might be saved through Him. 18“The one who believes in Him is not judged; the one who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God. 19“And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light; for their deeds were evil. 20“For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, so that his deeds will not be exposed. 21“But the one who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds will be revealed as having been performed in God.”
16神愛世人，甚至將他的獨生子賜給他們，叫一切信他的，不至滅亡，反得永生。17因為神差他的兒子降世，不是要定世人的罪，或作審判世人下同乃是要叫世人因他得救。18信他的人，不被定罪；不信的人，罪已經定了，因為他不信神獨生子的名。19光來到世間，世人因自己的行為是惡的，不愛光倒愛黑暗，定他們的罪就是在此。20凡作惡的便恨光，並不來就光，恐怕他的行為受責備。21但行真理的必來就光，要顯明他所行的是靠神而行。
John the Baptist’s Last Testimony
22After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the land of Judea; and there He was spending time with them and baptizing. 23Now John also was baptizing in Aenon, near Salim, because there was an abundance of water there; and people were coming and being baptized— 24for John had not yet been thrown into prison.
22這事以後，耶穌和門徒到了猶太地，在那裏居住施洗。23約翰在靠近撒冷的哀嫩也施洗，因為那裏水多；眾人都去受洗。24那時約翰還沒有下在監裏。
25Then a matter of dispute developed on the part of John’s disciples with a Jew about purification. 26And they came to John and said to him, “Rabbi, He who was with you beyond the Jordan, to whom you have testified—behold, He is baptizing and all the people are coming to Him.” 27John replied, “A person can receive not even one thing unless it has been given to him from heaven. 28“You yourselves are my witnesses that I said, ‘I am not the Christ,’ but, ‘I have been sent ahead of Him.’ 29“He who has the bride is the groom; but the friend of the groom, who stands and listens to him, rejoices greatly because of the groom’s voice. So this joy of mine has been made full. 30“He must increase, but I must decrease.
25約翰的門徒，和一個猶太人辯論潔淨的禮。26就來見約翰，說，拉比，從前同你在約但河外，你所見證的那位，現在施洗，眾人都往他那裏去了。27約翰說，若不是從天上賜的，人就不能得甚麼。28我曾說，我不是基督，是奉差遣在他前面的，你們自己可以給我作見證。29娶新婦的，就是新郎；新郎的朋友站著聽見新郎的聲音就甚喜樂；故此我這喜樂滿足了。30他必興旺，我必衰微。
31“He who comes from above is above all; the one who is only from the earth is of the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32“What He has seen and heard, of this He testifies; and no one accepts His testimony. 33“The one who has accepted His testimony has certified that God is true. 34“For He whom God sent speaks the words of God; for He does not give the Spirit sparingly. 35“The Father loves the Son and has entrusted all things to His hand. 36“The one who believes in the Son has eternal life; but the one who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”
31從天上來的，是在萬有之上；從地上來的，是屬乎地，他所說的，也是屬乎地；從天上來的，是在萬有之上。32他將所見所聞的見證出來，只是沒有人領受他的見證。33那領受他見證的，就印上印，證明神是真的。34神所差來的，就說神的話；因為神賜聖靈給他，是沒有限量的。35父愛子，已將萬有交在他手裏。36信子的人有永生；不信子的人得不著永生，原文作不得見永生神的震怒常在他身上。
