The Death and Resurrection of Lazarus
1有一个患病的人，名叫拉撒路，住在伯大尼，就是马利亚和她姊姊马大的村庄。2这马利亚就是那用香膏抹主，又用头发擦他脚的；患病的拉撒路是她的兄弟。3她姊妹两个就打发人去见耶稣，说：「主啊，你所爱的人病了。」4耶稣听见，就说：「这病不至于死，乃是为神的荣耀，叫神的儿子因此得荣耀。」5耶稣素来爱马大和她妹子并拉撒路。6听见拉撒路病了，就在所居之地仍住了两天。7然后对门徒说：「我们再往犹太去吧。」8门徒说：「拉比，犹太人近来要拿石头打你，你还往那里去吗？」9耶稣回答说：「白日不是有十二小时吗？人在白日走路，就不至跌倒，因为看见这世上的光。10若在黑夜走路，就必跌倒，因为他没有光。」11耶稣说了这话，随后对他们说：「我们的朋友拉撒路睡了，我去叫醒他。」12门徒说：「主啊，他若睡了，就必好了。」13耶稣这话是指着他死说的，他们却以为是说照常睡了。14耶稣就明明地告诉他们说：「拉撒路死了。15我没有在那里就欢喜，这是为你们的缘故，好叫你们相信。如今我们可以往他那里去吧。」16多马，又称为低土马，就对那同作门徒的说：「我们也去和他同死吧。」
1Now a certain man was sick: Lazarus of Bethany, the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2And it was the Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped His feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3So the sisters sent word to Him, saying, “Lord, behold, he whom You love is sick.” 4But when Jesus heard this, He said, “This sickness is not meant for death, but is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified by it.” 5(Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister, and Lazarus.) 6So when He heard that he was sick, He then stayed two days longer in the place where He was. 7Then after this He said to the disciples, “Let’s go to Judea again.” 8The disciples said to Him, “Rabbi, the Jews were just now seeking to stone You, and yet You are going there again?” 9Jesus replied, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks during the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10“But if anyone walks during the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” 11This He said, and after this He said to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I am going so that I may awaken him from sleep.” 12The disciples then said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will come out of it.” 13Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking about actual sleep. 14So Jesus then said to them plainly, “Lazarus died, 15and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let’s go to him.” 16Therefore Thomas, who was called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let’s also go, so that we may die with Him!”
17耶稣到了，就知道拉撒路在坟墓里已经四天了。18伯大尼离耶路撒冷不远，约有六里路。19有好些犹太人来看马大和马利亚，要为她们的兄弟安慰她们。20马大听见耶稣来了，就出去迎接他；马利亚却仍然坐在家里。21马大对耶稣说：「主啊，你若早在这里，我兄弟必不死。22就是现在，我也知道，你无论向神求什么，神也必赐给你。」23耶稣说：「你兄弟必然复活。」24马大说：「我知道在末日复活的时候，他必复活。」25耶稣对她说：「复活在我，生命也在我。信我的人虽然死了，也必复活；26凡活着信我的人必永远不死。你信这话吗？」27马大说：「主啊，是的，我信你是基督，是神的儿子，就是那要临到世界的。」
17So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. 18Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about fifteen stadia away; 19and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them about their brother. 20So then Martha, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him, but Mary stayed in the house. 21Martha then said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. 22“Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” 23Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise from the dead.” 24Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.” 25Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; the one who believes in Me will live, even if he dies, 26and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” 27She said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have come to believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, and He who comes into the world.”
28马大说了这话，就回去暗暗地叫她妹子马利亚，说：「夫子来了，叫你。」29马利亚听见了，就急忙起来，到耶稣那里去。
28When she had said this, she left and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, “The Teacher is here and is calling for you.” 29And when she heard this, she got up quickly and came to Him.
30那时，耶稣还没有进村子，仍在马大迎接他的地方。31那些同马利亚在家里安慰她的犹太人，见她急忙起来出去，就跟着她，以为她要往坟墓那里去哭。32马利亚到了耶稣那里，看见他，就俯伏在他脚前，说：「主啊，你若早在这里，我兄弟必不死。」33耶稣看见她哭，并看见与她同来的犹太人也哭，就心里悲叹，又甚忧愁，34便说：「你们把他安放在哪里？」他们回答说：「请主来看。」35耶稣哭了。36犹太人就说：「你看他爱这人是何等恳切。」37其中有人说：「他既然开了瞎子的眼睛，岂不能叫这人不死吗？」
30Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still at the place where Martha met Him. 31Then the Jews who were with her in the house and were consoling her, when they saw that Mary had gotten up quickly and left, they followed her, thinking that she was going to the tomb to weep there. 32So when Mary came to the place where Jesus was, she saw Him and fell at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” 33Therefore when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit and was troubled, 34and He said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” 35Jesus wept. 36So the Jews were saying, “See how He loved him!” 37But some of them said, “Could this Man, who opened the eyes of the man who was blind, not have also kept this man from dying?”
38耶稣又心里悲叹，来到坟墓前；那坟墓是个洞，有一块石头挡着。39耶稣说：「你们把石头挪开。」那死人的姊姊马大对他说：「主啊，他现在必是臭了，因为他死了已经四天了。」40耶稣说：「我不是对你说过，你若信，就必看见神的荣耀吗？」41他们就把石头挪开。耶稣举目望天，说：「父啊，我感谢你，因为你已经听我。42我也知道你常听我，但我说这话是为周围站着的众人，叫他们信是你差了我来。」43说了这话，就大声呼叫说：「拉撒路出来！」44那死人就出来了，手脚裹着布，脸上包着手巾。耶稣对他们说：「解开，叫他走！」
38So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. 39Jesus said, “Remove the stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days.” 40Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” 41So they removed the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42“But I knew that You always hear Me; nevertheless, because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me.” 43And when He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” 44Out came the man who had died, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”
45那些来看马利亚的犹太人见了耶稣所做的事，就多有信他的；46但其中也有去见法利赛人的，将耶稣所做的事告诉他们。
45Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary, and saw what He had done, believed in Him. 46But some of them went to the Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.
Conspiracy to Kill Jesus
47祭司长和法利赛人聚集公会，说：「这人行好些神迹，我们怎么办呢？48若这样由着他，人人都要信他，罗马人也要来夺我们的地土和我们的百姓。」49内中有一个人，名叫该亚法，本年作大祭司，对他们说：「你们不知道什么。50独不想一个人替百姓死，免得通国灭亡，就是你们的益处。」51他这话不是出于自己，是因他本年作大祭司，所以预言耶稣将要替这一国死；52也不但替这一国死，并要将神四散的子民都聚集归一。53从那日起，他们就商议要杀耶稣
47Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council meeting, and they were saying, “What are we doing in regard to the fact that this Man is performing many signs? 48“If we let Him go on like this, all the people will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take over both our place and our nation.” 49But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50nor are you taking into account that it is in your best interest that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish instead.” 51Now he did not say this on his own, but as he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation; 52and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53So from that day on they planned together to kill Him.
54所以，耶稣不再显然行在犹太人中间，就离开那里往靠近旷野的地方去，到了一座城，名叫以法莲，就在那里和门徒同住。
54Therefore Jesus no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.
55犹太人的逾越节近了，有许多人从乡下上耶路撒冷去，要在节前洁净自己。56他们就寻找耶稣，站在殿里彼此说：「你们的意思如何，他不来过节吗？」57那时，祭司长和法利赛人早已吩咐说，若有人知道耶稣在哪里，就要报明，好去拿他。
55Now the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the country prior to the Passover, in order to purify themselves. 56So they were looking for Jesus, and saying to one another as they stood in the temple area, “What do you think; that He will not come to the feast at all?” 57Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where He was, he was to report it, so that they might arrest Him.
