Message to Baruch
1Firman yang disampaikan oleh nabi Yeremia kepada Barukh bin Neria, waktu Barukh dalam tahun keempat pemerintahan Yoyakim bin Yosia, raja Yehuda, menuliskan segala firman tersebut dalam sebuah kitab langsung dari mulut Yeremia:
1This is the message which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to Baruch the son of Neriah, when he had written these words in a book at Jeremiah’s dictation, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, saying:
2"Beginilah firman TUHAN, Allah Israel, tentang engkau, hai Barukh !
2“This is what the LORD, the God of Israel says to you, Baruch:
3Oleh karena engkau telah berkata: Celakalah aku, sebab TUHAN telah menambahkan kedukaan kepada penderitaanku ! Aku lesu karena keluh kesahku dan aku tidak mendapat ketenangan,
3‘You said, “Oh, woe to me! For the LORD has added grief to my pain; I am weary with my groaning and have found no rest.”’
4maka beginilah firman TUHAN: Sesungguhnya, apa yang Kubangun akan Kuruntuhkan, dan apa yang Kutanam akan Kucabut, bahkan sekalipun seluruh negeri !
4“This is what you are to say to him: ‘This is what the LORD says: “Behold, what I have built I am going to tear down, and what I have planted I am going to uproot, that is, all the people of the land.”
5Masakan engkau mencari hal-hal yang besar bagimu sendiri? Janganlah mencarinya ! Sebab, sesungguhnya, Aku mendatangkan malapetaka atas segala makhluk, demikianlah firman TUHAN, tetapi kepadamu akan Kuberikan nyawamu sebagai jarahan di segala tempat ke mana engkau pergi."
5‘But as for you, are you seeking great things for yourself? Do not seek them; for behold, I am going to bring disaster on all flesh,’ declares the LORD, ‘but I will give your life to you as plunder in all the places where you may go.’”
