The Broken Covenant
1The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, 2“Hear the words of this covenant, and speak to the men of Judah and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem; 3and say to them, ‘This is what the LORD, the God of Israel says: “Cursed is the one who does not obey the words of this covenant 4which I commanded your forefathers on the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, ‘Listen to My voice, and do according to all that I command you; so you shall be My people, and I will be your God,’ 5in order to confirm the oath which I swore to your forefathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day.”’” Then I replied, “Amen, LORD.”
1耶和華的話臨到耶利米說：2「當聽這約的話，告訴猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民，3對他們說，耶和華─以色列的神如此說：不聽從這約之話的人必受咒詛。4這約是我將你們列祖從埃及地領出來、脫離鐵爐的那日所吩咐他們的，說：『你們要聽從我的話，照我一切所吩咐的去行。』這樣，你們就作我的子民，我也作你們的神；5我好堅定向你們列祖所起的誓，給他們流奶與蜜之地，正如今日一樣。」我就回答說：「耶和華啊，阿們！」
6And the LORD said to me, “Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, ‘Hear the words of this covenant and do them. 7‘For I solemnly warned your fathers on the day I brought them up from the land of Egypt, even to this day, warning them persistently, saying, “Listen to My voice.” 8‘Yet they did not obey or incline their ear, but walked in the stubbornness of their evil heart, each one of them; therefore I brought on them all the words of this covenant which I commanded them to do, but they did not.’”
6耶和華對我說：「你要在猶大城邑中和耶路撒冷街市上，宣告這一切話說：你們當聽從遵行這約的話。7因為我將你們列祖從埃及地領出來的那日，直到今日，都是從早起來，切切誥誡他們說：『你們當聽從我的話。』8他們卻不聽從，不側耳而聽，竟隨從自己頑梗的惡心去行。所以我使這約中一切咒詛的話臨到他們身上；這約是我吩咐他們行的，他們卻不去行。」
9Then the LORD said to me, “A conspiracy has been found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 10“They have turned back to the wrongdoings of their ancestors who refused to hear My words, and they have followed other gods to serve them. The house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken My covenant which I made with their fathers.” 11Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry out to Me, I will not listen to them. 12“Then the cities of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem will go and cry out to the gods to whom they burn incense, but they certainly will not save them in the time of their disaster. 13“For your gods are as many as your cities, Judah; and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars you have set up to the shameful thing, altars for burning incense to Baal.
9耶和華對我說：「在猶大人和耶路撒冷居民中有同謀背叛的事。10他們轉去效法他們的先祖，不肯聽我的話，犯罪作孽，又隨從別神，事奉它。以色列家和猶大家背了我與他們列祖所立的約。」11所以耶和華如此說：「我必使災禍臨到他們，是他們不能逃脫的。他們必向我哀求，我卻不聽。12那時，猶大城邑的人和耶路撒冷的居民要去哀求他們燒香所供奉的神；只是遭難的時候，這些神毫不拯救他們。13猶大啊，你神的數目與你城的數目相等；你為那可恥的巴力所築燒香的壇也與耶路撒冷街道的數目相等。
14“So as for you, do not pray for this people, nor lift up a cry or prayer for them; for I will not listen when they call to Me because of their disaster. 15“What right has My beloved in My house
When she has carried out many evil schemes?
Can the sacrificial flesh take away from you your disaster,
So that you can rejoice?” 16The LORD named you
“A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and form”;
With the noise of a great tumult
He has set fire to it,
And its branches are worthless. 17The LORD of armies, who planted you, has pronounced evil against you because of the evil of the house of Israel and the house of Judah, which they have done to provoke Me by offering sacrifices to Baal.

14「所以你不要為這百姓祈禱，不要為他們呼求禱告；因為他們遭難向我哀求的時候，我必不應允。15我所親愛的，既行許多淫亂，聖肉也離了你，你在我殿中做甚麼呢？你作惡就喜樂。16從前耶和華給你起名叫青橄欖樹，又華美又結好果子；如今他用鬨嚷之聲，點火在其上，枝子也被折斷。17原來栽培你的萬軍之耶和華已經說，要降禍攻擊你，是因以色列家和猶大家行惡，向巴力燒香，惹我發怒，是自作自受。」
Plots against Jeremiah
18Moreover, the LORD made it known to me and I knew it;
Then You showed me their deeds. 19But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter;
And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying,
“Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit,
And let’s cut him off from the land of the living,
So that his name will no longer be remembered.” 20But, LORD of armies, who judges righteously,
Who puts the feelings and the heart to the test,
Let me see Your vengeance on them,
For to You I have committed my cause.
Then You showed me their deeds. 19But I was like a gentle lamb led to the slaughter;
And I did not know that they had devised plots against me, saying,
“Let’s destroy the tree with its fruit,
And let’s cut him off from the land of the living,
So that his name will no longer be remembered.” 20But, LORD of armies, who judges righteously,

18耶和華指示我，我就知道；你將他們所行的給我指明。19我卻像柔順的羊羔被牽到宰殺之地；我並不知道他們設計謀害我，說：我們把樹連果子都滅了吧！將他從活人之地剪除，使他的名不再被紀念。20按公義判斷、察驗人肺腑心腸的萬軍之耶和華啊，我卻要見你在他們身上報仇，因我將我的案件向你稟明了。
21Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth, who are seeking your life, saying: “Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD, so that you do not die by our hand”; 22therefore, this is what the LORD of armies says: “Behold, I am going to punish them! The young men will die by the sword, their sons and daughters will die by famine; 23and a remnant will not be left to them, because I will bring disaster on the people of Anathoth—the year of their punishment.”
21所以，耶和華論到尋索你命的亞拿突人如此說：「他們說：你不要奉耶和華的名說預言，免得你死在我們手中。22所以萬軍之耶和華如此說：看哪，我必刑罰他們；他們的少年人必被刀劍殺死，他們的兒女必因饑荒滅亡，23並且沒有餘剩的人留給他們；因為在追討之年，我必使災禍臨到亞拿突人。」
