Things to Avoid
1你們中間的爭戰鬥毆，是從那裏來的呢；不是從你們百體中戰鬥之私慾來的麼。2你們貪戀，還是得不著；你們殺害嫉妒，又鬥毆爭戰，也不能得；你們得不著；是因為你們不求。3你們求也得不著，是因為你們妄求，要浪費在你們的宴樂中。4你們這些淫亂的人哪，淫亂的人原文作淫婦豈不知與世俗為友，就是與神為敵麼；所以凡想要與世俗為友的，就是與神為敵了。5你們想經上所說是徒然的麼；神所賜住在我們裏面的靈，是戀愛至於嫉妒麼。6但他賜更多的恩典；所以經上說，神阻擋驕傲的人，賜恩給謙卑的人。7故此你們要順服神；務要抵擋魔鬼，魔鬼就必離開你們逃跑了。8你們親近神，神就必親近你們。有罪的人哪，要潔淨你們的手。心懷二意的人哪，要清潔你們的心。9你們要愁苦，悲哀，哭泣；將喜笑變作悲哀，歡樂變作愁悶。10務要在主面前自卑，主就必叫你們升高。
1What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts? 2You lust and do not have, so you commit murder. And you are envious and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. 3You ask and do not receive, because you ask with the wrong motives, so that you may spend what you request on your pleasures. 4You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5Or do you think that the Scripture says to no purpose, “He jealously desires the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”? 6But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.” 7Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8Come close to God and He will come close to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. 10Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
11弟兄們，你們不可彼此批評；人若批評弟兄，論斷弟兄，就是批評律法，論斷律法；你若論斷律法，就不是遵行律法，乃是判斷人的。12設立律法和判斷人的，只有一位，就是那能救人也能滅人的；你是誰，竟敢論斷別人呢。
11Do not speak against one another, brothers and sisters. The one who speaks against a brother or sister, or judges his brother or sister, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy; but who are you, judging your neighbor?
13嗐，你們有話說，今天明天我們要往某城裏去，在那裏住一年，作買賣得利；14其實明天如何，你們還不知道。你們的生命是甚麼呢；你們原來是一片雲霧，出現少時就不見了。15你們只當說，主若願意，我們就可以活著，也可以作這事，或作那事。16現今你們竟以張狂誇口；凡這樣誇口都是惡的。17人若知道行善，卻不去行，這就是他的罪了。
13Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit.” 14Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. For you are just a vapor that appears for a little while, and then vanishes away. 15Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and also do this or that.” 16But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17So for one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, for him it is sin.
