God Yearns over His People
1以色列年幼的時候，我愛他，就從埃及召出我的兒子來。2先知越發招呼他們，他們越發走開，向諸巴力獻祭，給雕刻的偶像燒香。3我原教導以法蓮行走，用膀臂抱著他們，他們卻不知道是我醫治他們。4我用慈繩慈：原文是人的愛索牽引他們；我待他們如人放鬆牛的兩腮夾板，把糧食放在他們面前。
1When Israel was a youth I loved him,
And out of Egypt I called My son. 2The more they called them,
The more they went away from them;
They kept sacrificing to the Baals
And burning incense to idols. 3Yet it is I who taught Ephraim to walk,
I took them in My arms;
But they did not know that I healed them. 4I pulled them along with cords of a man, with ropes of love,
And I became to them as one who lifts the yoke from their jaws;
And I bent down and fed them.
And out of Egypt I called My son. 2The more they called them,

5他們必不歸回埃及地，亞述人卻要作他們的王，因他們不肯歸向我。6刀劍必臨到他們的城邑，毀壞門閂，把人吞滅，都因他們隨從自己的計謀。7我的民偏要背道離開我；眾先知雖然招呼他們歸向至上的主，卻無人尊崇主。

But Assyria—he will be their king
Because they refused to return to Me. 6And the sword will whirl against their cities,
And will destroy their oracle priests
And consume them, because of their counsels. 7So My people are determined to turn from Me.

None at all exalts Him.

8以法蓮哪，我怎能捨棄你？以色列啊，我怎能棄絕你？我怎能使你如押瑪？怎能使你如洗扁？我回心轉意，我的憐愛大大發動。9我必不發猛烈的怒氣，也不再毀滅以法蓮。因我是神，並非世人，是你們中間的聖者；我必不在怒中臨到你們。10耶和華必如獅子吼叫，子民必跟隨他。他一吼叫，他們就從西方急速而來。11他們必如雀鳥從埃及急速而來，又如鴿子從亞述地來到。我必使他們住自己的房屋。這是耶和華說的。
8How can I give you up, Ephraim?
How can I surrender you, Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I treat you like Zeboiim?
My heart is turned over within Me,
All My compassions are kindled. 9I will not carry out My fierce anger;
I will not destroy Ephraim again.
For I am God and not a man, the Holy One in your midst,
And I will not come in wrath. 10They will walk after the LORD,
He will roar like a lion;
Indeed He will roar,
And His sons will come trembling from the west. 11They will come trembling like birds from Egypt,
And like doves from the land of Assyria;
And I will settle them in their houses, declares the LORD.
