Judgment upon Ahab’s House
1亚哈有七十个儿子在撒马利亚。耶户写信送到撒马利亚，通知耶斯列的首领，就是长老和教养亚哈众子的人，说：2「你们那里既有你们主人的众子和车马、器械、坚固城，3接了这信，就可以在你们主人的众子中选择一个贤能合宜的，使他坐他父亲的位，你们也可以为你们主人的家争战。」4他们却甚惧怕，彼此说：「二王在他面前尚且站立不住，我们怎能站得住呢？」5家宰、邑宰，和长老，并教养众子的人，打发人去见耶户，说：「我们是你的仆人，凡你所吩咐我们的都必遵行，我们不立谁作王，你看怎样好就怎样行。」6耶户又给他们写信说：「你们若归顺我，听从我的话，明日这时候，要将你们主人众子的首级带到耶斯列来见我。」那时王的儿子七十人都住在教养他们那城中的尊贵人家里。7信一到，他们就把王的七十个儿子杀了，将首级装在筐里，送到在耶斯列的耶户那里。8有使者来告诉耶户说：「他们将王众子的首级送来了。」耶户说：「将首级在城门口堆作两堆，搁到明日。」9次日早晨，耶户出来，站着对众民说：「你们都是公义的，我背叛我主人，将他杀了；这些人却是谁杀的呢？10由此可知，耶和华指着亚哈家所说的话一句没有落空，因为耶和华借他仆人以利亚所说的话都成就了。」11凡亚哈家在耶斯列所剩下的人和他的大臣、密友、祭司，耶户尽都杀了，没有留下一个。
1Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters and sent them to Samaria, to the officials of Jezreel, the elders, and to the guardians of the children of Ahab, saying, 2“And now, when this letter comes to you, since your master’s sons are with you, as well as the chariots and horses, and a fortified city and the weapons, 3select the best and most capable of your master’s sons and seat him on his father’s throne, and fight for your master’s house.” 4But they feared greatly and said, “Behold, the two kings did not stand firm before him; how then can we stand?” 5And the one who was in charge of the household, and the one who was in charge of the city, and the elders, and the guardians of the children, sent word to Jehu, saying, “We are your servants, and everything that you tell us we will do. We will not appoint any man king; do what is good in your sight.” 6Then he wrote them a letter a second time, saying, “If you are on my side, and will listen to my voice, take the heads of the men, your master’s sons, and come to me at Jezreel about this time tomorrow.” Now the king’s sons, seventy men, were with the great people of the city, who were raising them. 7When the letter came to them, they took the king’s sons and slaughtered them, seventy men, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them to him at Jezreel. 8When the messenger came and informed him, saying, “They have brought the heads of the king’s sons,” he said, “Put them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until morning.” 9Now in the morning he went out and stood and said to all the people, “You are innocent; behold, I conspired against my master and killed him, but who killed all these? 10“Know then that nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spoke concerning the house of Ahab, shall fall to the earth, for the LORD has done what He spoke through His servant Elijah.” 11So Jehu killed all who remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, his acquaintances, and his priests, until he left him without a survivor.

12Then he set out and went to Samaria. On the way while he was at Beth-eked of the shepherds, 13Jehu encountered the relatives of Ahaziah king of Judah, and he said, “Who are you?” And they answered, “We are the relatives of Ahaziah; and we have come down to greet the sons of the king and the sons of the queen mother.” 14Then he said, “Take them alive.” So they took them alive, and slaughtered them at the pit of Beth-eked, forty-two men; and he left none of them.

15Now when he had gone from there, he encountered Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he greeted him and said to him, “Is your heart right, just as my heart is with your heart?” And Jehonadab answered, “It is.” Jehu said, “If it is, give me your hand.” And he gave him his hand, and he pulled him up to him into the chariot. 16Then he said, “Come with me and see my zeal for the LORD.” So he had him ride in his chariot. 17When he came to Samaria, he killed all who remained to Ahab in Samaria, until he had eliminated them, in accordance with the word of the LORD which He spoke to Elijah.
Jehu Destroys Baal Worshipers
18耶户招聚众民，对他们说：「亚哈事奉巴力还冷淡，耶户却更热心。19现在我要给巴力献大祭。应当叫巴力的众先知和一切拜巴力的人，并巴力的众祭司，都到我这里来，不可缺少一个；凡不来的必不得活。」耶户这样行，是用诡计要杀尽拜巴力的人。20耶户说：「要为巴力宣告严肃会！」于是宣告了。21耶户差人走遍以色列地；凡拜巴力的人都来齐了，没有一个不来的。他们进了巴力庙，巴力庙中从前边直到后边都满了人。22耶户吩咐掌管礼服的人说：「拿出礼服来，给一切拜巴力的人穿。」他就拿出礼服来给了他们。23耶户和利甲的儿子约拿达进了巴力庙，对拜巴力的人说：「你们察看察看，在你们这里不可有耶和华的仆人，只可容留拜巴力的人。」24耶户和约拿达进去，献平安祭和燔祭。耶户先安派八十人在庙外，吩咐说：「我将这些人交在你们手中，若有一人脱逃，谁放的必叫他偿命！」
18Then Jehu gathered all the people and said to them, “Ahab served Baal a little; Jehu will serve him much. 19“Now, summon to me all the prophets of Baal, all his worshipers and all his priests; let no one go missing, because I have a great sacrifice for Baal; whoever is missing shall not live.” But Jehu did it in deception, in order to eliminate the worshipers of Baal. 20And Jehu said, “Proclaim a holy assembly for Baal.” And they proclaimed it. 21Then Jehu sent word throughout Israel, and all the worshipers of Baal came, so that there was not a person left who did not come. And when they entered the house of Baal, the house of Baal was filled from one end to the other. 22And he said to the one who was in charge of the wardrobe, “Bring out garments for all the worshipers of Baal.” So he brought out the garments for them. 23Then Jehu entered the house of Baal with Jehonadab the son of Rechab; and he said to the worshipers of Baal, “Search carefully and see to it that there is here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but only the worshipers of Baal.” 24Then they entered to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings.

25Then it came about, as soon as he had finished offering the burnt offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the royal officers, “Go in, kill them; let none come out.” So they killed them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the royal officers threw them out, and went to the sanctuary of the house of Baal. 26They brought out the memorial stones of the house of Baal and burned them. 27They also tore down the memorial stone of Baal and tore down the house of Baal, and made it a latrine as it is to this day.
28这样，耶户在以色列中灭了巴力。29只是耶户不离开尼八的儿子耶罗波安使以色列人陷在罪里的那罪，就是拜伯特利和但的金牛犊。30耶和华对耶户说：「因你办好我眼中看为正的事，照我的心意待亚哈家，你的子孙必接续你坐以色列的国位，直到四代。」31只是耶户不尽心遵守耶和华—以色列神的律法，不离开耶罗波安使以色列人陷在罪里的那罪。
28So Jehu eradicated Baal from Israel. 29However, as for the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, into which he misled Israel, from these Jehu did not desist, including the golden calves that were at Bethel and at Dan. 30Yet the LORD said to Jehu, “Because you have done well in performing what is right in My eyes, and have done to the house of Ahab in accordance with everything that was in My heart, your sons to the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.” 31But Jehu was not careful to walk in the Law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart; he did not desist from the sins of Jeroboam, into which he misled Israel.
Jehoahaz Succeeds Jehu
32在那些日子，耶和华才割裂以色列国，使哈薛攻击以色列的境界，33乃是约旦河东、基列全地，从靠近亚嫩谷边的亚罗珥起，就是基列和巴珊的迦得人、吕便人、玛拿西人之地。34耶户其余的事，凡他所行的和他的勇力都写在以色列诸王记上。35耶户与他列祖同睡，葬在撒马利亚；他儿子约哈斯接续他作王。36耶户在撒马利亚作以色列王二十八年。
32In those days the LORD began to cut off pieces from Israel; and Hazael defeated them throughout the territory of Israel: 33from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, the Reubenites, and the Manassites; from Aroer, which is by the Valley of the Arnon, that is, Gilead and Bashan. 34Now as for the rest of the acts of Jehu and everything that he did and all his might, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel? 35And Jehu lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in Samaria. And his son Jehoahaz became king in his place. 36So the time which Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.
