Ahaziah’s Messengers Meet Elijah
1亚哈死后，摩押背叛以色列。2亚哈谢在撒马利亚，一日从楼上的栏杆里掉下来，就病了；于是差遣使者说：「你们去问以革伦的神巴力·西卜，我这病能好不能好。」3但耶和华的使者对提斯比人以利亚说：「你起来，去迎着撒马利亚王的使者，对他们说：『你们去问以革伦神巴力·西卜，岂因以色列中没有神吗？』4所以耶和华如此说：『你必不下你所上的床，必定要死！』」以利亚就去了。
1Now Moab broke with Israel after the death of Ahab. 2And Ahaziah fell through the window lattice in his upper chamber which was in Samaria, and became ill. So he sent messengers and said to them, “Go, inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron, whether I will recover from this sickness.” 3But the angel of the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite, “Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria and say to them, ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are going to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron?’ 4“Now therefore, this is what the LORD says: ‘You will not get down from the bed upon which you have lain, but you shall certainly die.’” Then Elijah departed.
5使者回来见王，王问他们说：「你们为什么回来呢？」6使者回答说：「有一个人迎着我们来，对我们说：『你们回去见差你们来的王，对他说：耶和华如此说，你差人去问以革伦神巴力·西卜，岂因以色列中没有神吗？所以你必不下所上的床，必定要死。』」7王问他们说：「迎着你们来告诉你们这话的，是怎样的人？」8回答说：「他身穿毛衣，腰束皮带。」王说：「这必是提斯比人以利亚。」
5When the messengers returned to Ahaziah, he said to them, “Why have you returned?” 6They said to him, “A man came up to meet us and said to us, ‘Go, return to the king who sent you and say to him, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron? Therefore you will not get down from the bed upon which you have lain, but you shall certainly die.’”’” 7Then he said to them, “What did the man look like, who came up to meet you and spoke these words to you?” 8And they said to him, “He was a hairy man with a leather belt worn around his waist.” And he said, “It is Elijah the Tishbite.”
9于是，王差遣五十夫长，带领五十人去见以利亚，他就上到以利亚那里；以利亚正坐在山顶上。五十夫长对他说：「神人哪，王吩咐你下来！」10以利亚回答说：「我若是神人，愿火从天上降下来，烧灭你和你那五十人！」于是有火从天上降下来，烧灭五十夫长和他那五十人。
9Then the king sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he went up to him, and behold, he was sitting on the top of the hill. And he said to him, “You man of God, the king says, ‘Come down.’” 10But Elijah replied to the captain of fifty, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then fire came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.
11王第二次差遣一个五十夫长，带领五十人去见以利亚。五十夫长对以利亚说：「神人哪，王吩咐你快快下来！」12以利亚回答说：「我若是神人，愿火从天上降下来，烧灭你和你那五十人！」于是神的火从天上降下来，烧灭五十夫长和他那五十人。
11So the king again sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty men. And he said to him, “You man of God, this is what the king says: ‘Come down quickly!’” 12But Elijah replied to them, “If I am a man of God, may fire come down from heaven and consume you and your fifty.” Then the fire of God came down from heaven and consumed him and his fifty men.
13王第三次差遣一个五十夫长，带领五十人去。这五十夫长上去，双膝跪在以利亚面前，哀求他说：「神人哪，愿我的性命和你这五十个仆人的性命在你眼前看为宝贵！14已经有火从天上降下来，烧灭前两次来的五十夫长和他们各自带的五十人；现在愿我的性命在你眼前看为宝贵！」15耶和华的使者对以利亚说：「你同着他下去，不要怕他！」以利亚就起来，同着他下去见王，16对王说：「耶和华如此说：『你差人去问以革伦神巴力·西卜，岂因以色列中没有神可以求问吗？所以你必不下所上的床，必定要死！』」
13So the king again sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty men. When the third captain of fifty went up, he came and bowed down on his knees before Elijah, and begged him and said to him, “You man of God, please let my life and the lives of these fifty servants of yours be precious in your sight. 14“Behold, fire came down from heaven and consumed the first two captains of fifty with their fifties; but now let my life be precious in your sight.” 15And the angel of the LORD said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” So he got up and went down with him to the king. 16Then he said to him, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Since you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub, the god of Ekron—is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore you will not get down from the bed upon which you have lain, but you shall certainly die.’”
Jehoram Reigns over Israel
17亚哈谢果然死了，正如耶和华借以利亚所说的话。因他没有儿子，他兄弟约兰接续他作王，正在犹大王约沙法的儿子约兰第二年。18亚哈谢其余所行的事都写在以色列诸王记上。
17So Ahaziah died in accordance with the word of the LORD which Elijah had spoken. And since he had no son, Jehoram became king in his place in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah. 18Now as for the rest of the acts of Ahaziah which he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel?
