Jotham Succeeds Uzziah in Judah
1요담이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십오 세라 예루살렘에서 십육 년을 치리하니라 그 모친의 이름은 여루사라 사독의 딸이더라 2요담이 그 부친 웃시야의 모든 행위대로 여호와 보시기에 정직히 행하였으나 여호와의 전에는 들어가지 아니하였고 백성은 오히려 사악을 행하였더라 3저가 여호와의 전 윗문을 건축하고 또 오벨 성을 많이 증축하고 4유다 산중에 성읍을 건축하며 수풀 가운데 견고한 영채와 망대를 건축하고 5암몬 자손의 왕으로 더불어 싸워 이기었더니 그 해에 암몬 자손이 은 일백 달란트와 밀 일만 석과 보리 일만 석을 드렸고 제이년과 제삼년에도 암몬 자손이 그와 같이 드렸더라 6요담이 그 하나님 여호와 앞에서 정도를 행하였으므로 점점 강하여졌더라 7요담의 남은 사적과 그 모든 전쟁과 행위는 이스라엘과 유다 열왕기에 기록되니라 8요담이 위에 나아갈 때에 나이 이십오 세요 예루살렘에서 치리한지 십육년이라 9저가 그 열조와 함께 자매 다윗 성에 장사되고 그 아들 아하스가 대신하여 왕이 되니라
1Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned for sixteen years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jerushah the daughter of Zadok. 2He did what was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah had done; however he did not enter the temple of the LORD. But the people continued acting corruptly. 3He built the upper gate of the house of the LORD, and he built the wall of Ophel extensively. 4Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and he built fortresses and towers on the wooded hills. 5He fought with the king of the Ammonites and prevailed over them so that during that year the Ammonites gave him a hundred talents of silver, ten thousand kors of wheat, and ten thousand of barley. The Ammonites also paid him this amount in the second year and in the third. 6So Jotham became powerful because he directed his ways before the LORD his God. 7Now the rest of the acts of Jotham, all his wars and his ways, behold, they are written in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah. 8He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem for sixteen years. 9And Jotham lay down with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and his son Ahaz became king in his place.
