1Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.

3願頌讚歸與我們主耶穌基督的父與神，他曾照自己的大憐憫，藉耶穌基督從死裏復活，重生了我們，叫我們有活潑的盼望，4可以得著不能朽壞，不能玷污，不能衰殘，為你們存留在天上的基業。5你們這因信蒙神能力保守的人，必能得著所豫備，到末世要顯現的救恩。6因此，你們是大有喜樂，但如今，在百般的試煉中暫時憂愁；7叫你們的信心既被試驗，就比那被火試驗，仍然能壞的金子，更顯寶貴；可以在耶穌基督顯現的時候，得著稱讚，榮耀，尊貴。8你們雖然沒有見過他，卻是愛他；如今雖不得看見，卻因信他就有說不出來，滿有榮光的大喜樂；9並且得著你們信心的果效，就是靈魂的救恩。
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 6In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, 7so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 8and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9obtaining as the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
10論到這救恩，那豫先說你們要得恩典的眾先知，早已詳細的尋求考察；11就是考察在他們心裏基督的靈，豫先證明基督受苦難，後來得榮耀，是指著甚麼時候，並怎樣的時候。12他們得了啟示，知道他們所傳講的傳講原文作服事一切事，不是為自己，乃是為你們；那靠著從天上差來的聖靈，傳福音給你們的人，現在將這些事報給你們；天使也願意詳細察看這些事。
10As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries, 11seeking to know what person or time the Spirit of Christ within them was indicating as He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories to follow. 12It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves, but you, in these things which now have been announced to you through those who preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things into which angels long to look.
13所以要約束你們的心，原文作束上你們心中的腰謹慎自守，專心盼望耶穌基督顯現的時候所帶來給你們的恩。14你們既作順命的兒女，就不要效法從前蒙昧無知的時候，那放縱私慾的樣子。15那召你們的既是聖潔，你們在一切所行的事上也要聖潔；16因為經上記著說，你們要聖潔，因為我是聖潔的。
13Therefore, prepare your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, set your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, 15but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; 16because it is written: “YOU SHALL BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.”
17你們既稱那不偏待人，按各人行為審判人的主為父，就當存敬畏的心，度你們在世寄居的日子；18知道你們得贖，脫去你們祖宗所傳流虛妄的行為，不是憑著能壞的金銀等物；19乃是憑著基督的寶血，如同無瑕疵無玷污的羔羊之血；20基督在創世以前，是豫先被神知道的，卻在這末世，纔為你們顯現；21你們也因著他，信那叫他從死裏復活，又給他榮耀的神，叫你們的信心，和盼望，都在於神。
17If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth; 18knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, 19but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 20For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you 21who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
22你們既因順從真理，潔淨了自己的心，以致愛弟兄沒有虛假，就當從心裏從心裏有古卷作從清潔的心彼此切實相愛；23你們蒙了重生，不是由於能壞的種子，乃是由於不能壞的種子，是藉著神活潑常存的道。24因為凡有血氣的，盡都如草，他的美榮，都像草上的花；草必枯乾，花必凋謝；25惟有主的道是永存的。所傳給你們的福音就是這道。
22Since you have purified your souls in obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brothers and sisters, fervently love one another from the heart, 23for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable, but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God. 24For,
“ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS,
AND ALL ITS GLORY IS LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS.
THE GRASS WITHERS,
AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, 25BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.”
And this is the word which was preached to you.
“ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS,
AND ALL ITS GLORY IS LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS.
THE GRASS WITHERS,
AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, 25BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER.”
And this is the word which was preached to you.
