Marker identifying the entity that is directly targeted by the event in focus, and which usually is already part of the cognitive context; described in syntactic terms as the direct object marker; untranslatable in English unless accompanied by a suffix
ExamplesDaniel 3:12 “There are certain Jews whom you have appointed over the administration of the province of Babylon, namely Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego. These men, O king, have disregarded you; they do not serve your gods, nor do they worship the golden statue which you have set up.”
How it’s used
Every occurrence, grouped by the words it is grammatically related to.
When two words share a role, as in “Paul and Barnabas said”, the verse appears under each, so a section’s counts can add up to more than the number of occurrences.
