    털이 두껍고 얼굴이 개와 비슷한 큰 야생 네발 포유동물. 네 발로 걷지만 더 잘 보려고 뒷다리로 일어서기도 한다. 일어서면 키가 2m에 이르고 몸무게는 200kg이 넘을 수 있다. 뿌리, 열매, 야생 과일, 쥐, 도마뱀을 먹고, 때로는 작은 가축도 잡아먹는다. Ursus arctos syriacus. 자극을 받거나 새끼를 빼앗기면 위험하다. 폭력과 위험을 연상시킨다
